The third lecture was given by Dr Hazrati. Dr Hazrati gives a lecture on graphic and multimedia. First of all, there different forms of media. The forms are text, graphic or image, audio, video, animation and interactive content. Multimedia is content that uses a combination of different forms of media as mentioned. Dr Hazrati explains to us clearly and informatively about each form of the media, from text to interactive content. She showed us a few examples for each form. The graphic is one of the forms in multimedia. There are three types of graphic. They are illustration, realistic and symbolism. Other than that, we were provided with information on the principles of design. The principles are; contrast, repetition, alignment and proximity.
The day’s topic gives me a clearer vision of the elements to create a good graphic or multimedia. It also opens my mind and gives me an idea on how to make teaching and learning more fun but at the same time can provide clear information on the topic. For example, interactive learning. Interactivity allows interaction between informative programs and the audience. The audience here is referring to students. Other than that, the elements and principles of design provide me with information on how to come up with a good design. All the elements come together will help create a more effective design for our multimedia. Who knows that even the size of the font can help create meaning in the way we use it for. I can conclude that this topic is helping us to get a hang of creating a meaningful learning and teaching experience by making use of the existing technology and innovation. It gives us an idea and a first step on how to create a design to help make the use of innovation in education becomes more effective.

The first lecture was given by Mejar Jasmy. He briefly explains the concept of technology and innovation in education. Technology can be defined as the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry. Technology is not just tools and machines only. The process of inventing or creating technology involves a lot of ideas, arts, sciences, systems and guides. Meanwhile, innovation is the process of translating an idea or invention into a good or service that creates value for which customers will pay. The application of both technology and innovation in education is a way to improve learning and teaching which will lead to an improvement in education, compatible with the present generation.
From what he explains, I get the idea of the uses of technology and innovation in education. In these generations, many technologies have been created. So it is up to us to make use of the technologies given. For example, a search engine. The search engine is also can be categorized as a form of technology and innovation. In today’s world, the search engine like google is widely used by everyone around the world. It can either be for work, education or leisure. Google has a wide range of information where students and teachers can use to help them with their learning and teaching process. Moreover, all this information can be acquired for free. That is one of the greatest benefits of search engines. Apart from the topic, Mejar Jasmy mentioned about discipline and ethics. For me, this kind of advice or reminder is much needed to be added in the teaching process as it is a part of a life-long learning session which is very important for students. I can conclude that the course is important for the future teacher as it teaches us to be an innovative teacher for the future generation. The second lecture was given by Dr M.Khalid. The topic was on M-Learning and E-Learning. The letter E in e-learning refers to electronic. So basically, e-learning is used to refer to a way of learning where learning instructions are delivered by using electronic devices like computers and laptops, with the help of the internet. E-learning is important to teach students specific skills on operating the electronic and also helps them creating an experience using electronic for study purposes. M-learning refers to mobile learning. M-learning is a subset of e-learning as mentioned by Dr M.Khalid. M-learning allows students to access to the subjects by using their own devices.
There are a lot of differences between e-learning and m-learning. The first one is, m-learning is used t access the information right when it is needed. Meanwhile, e-learning can be used when students want to search for in-depth knowledge of their studies. Other than that, e-learning provides students or teachers with a wider view, more detailed information and clearer graphics or videos. Meanwhile, m-learning provides short information with easy and quick navigation. If I were given a chance choose to either one, I would prefer m-learning. This is because nowadays, many applications can be downloaded for free or not, and can be easily accessed by using mobile phones. Other than that, I had experience learning using mobile phones which is fun, informative and consume less time and energy in comparison to e-learning. The examples of m-learning that is good to use in the classroom are, quizizz and kahoot. The students can access it through their phones and the teacher will have the records saved online for them as well. So it is a win-win situation for both students and teachers and it eases their work. Another application is open learning. Open learning is also a good application for e-learning that can also be accessed using mobile phones. The conclusion is, e-learning and m-learning give so many benefits and open lots of opportunities for teachers to vary their teaching and makes it creative, fun and also informative. It is a new best way for students to learn as well. As it will help them improves their skills. |
